Drysdale Jiu-Jitsu offers various styles of martial arts to both adults and kids of the highest standard.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a style of martial art that focuses on grappling and in particular ground fighting.
It originally derived from Judo in the early 1900’s by professor Mitsuyo Maeda who introduced it to the Gracie family in Brazil.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is based on the principle that a smaller, weaker person can defend themselves against a bigger, stronger opponent by using leverage and proper body positioning as well as by using joint locks and chokes which we refer to as submission techniques.

Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is not only a martial art or method of self defense: it is also a sport; a method for promoting physical fitness and building character in people; and, ultimately, a way of life. Our classes focus on technical training in a positive and safe environment. Our classes consist of learning and drilling specific techniques as well as live grappling. The head instructor, professor Robert Drysdale pays particular attention to the details of the techniques that enables students to achieve the highest level of understanding.

Muay Thai

Muai Thai, is a full contact style of martial art that originated from Thailand.
Muay Thai is often referred to as the most practical and effective of all the striking arts because it makes use of punches, kicks, elbows and knees, thus using eight points of contact and making it an extremely lethal form of martial arts.

Our classes enable you to become a standup technician in a fun and save environment by learning how to strike, kick, use your knees and elbows in many different combinations. Our classes are a great workout, and we cater for beginners through to experts as well those wishing to fight in the ring.

Boxing

Boxing is a combat sport and martial art in which two people fight using their fists. Our Boxing classes are fantastic workout that develop a great skill set built on a foundation of strong basics in a safe, positive and environment. You will learn the subtle movements and mechanics of footwork and striking. Additionally there is a large element of conditioning to ensure you have the cardio endurance to maintain round after round. These classes will get you in great shape and if you are serious about MMA, they will provide you with a you a good, solid foundation for the stand-up element of MMA .

MMA

MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) is a is a full contact combat sport that combines the basic elements of grappling and striking. Our MMA classes teach you how to combine the skills learned in striking and grappling as well as working from the clinch and take downs to the ground to create a totally effective combat style that covers all bases. Our class caters for those who simply wish to have a well rounded skill set to those who wish to step in the ring and fight MMA.

Kids Jiu-Jitsu Classes

Drysdale Jiu-Jitsu pays particular attention to the kids program. We feel that Jiu-Jitsu classes are are a very good way to promote character building attributes such as good work ethic, motivation, co operation, mental toughness and increased self esteem in a fun yet disciplined environment. Classes are also important in developing strength, fitness and coordination.

We offer classes for kids Monday to Friday for ages 5 – 16 years old.
