The Robert Drysdale Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association is a world class organization dedicated to promoting the martial art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu around the world. With superior instruction and guidance from Professor Robert Drysdale himself, the Robert Drysdale Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu association offers a comprehensive approach and methodology for both teaching Brazilian jiu-jitsu and running a successful and profitable Brazilian jiu-jitsu martial arts program.

Requirements
To become a part of the Robert Drysdale Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association, you must comply with the set of rules and principles of good management and teaching practices established by the Robert Drysdale Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Service Agreement. Additionally, you must follow the Robert Drysdale Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Belt Testing Principles.
* Monthly Fee: All Robert Drysdale Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Affiliate Schools must pay a monthly fee to maintain membership benefits. This fee can be paid online monthly or pre-paid annually for a discount.
* Rank: You must be at least a blue belt to become a Robert Drysdale Affiliated School.
* Belt System: Every Robert Drysdale Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu School must follow the belt system from the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF).
* Seminar: Every Robert Drysdale Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu School must schedule at least 1 seminar per year where Robert Drysdale provides seminar instruction, on site belt testing, and school evaluation. Schools are encouraged to host more than one seminar per year. In addition to Robert Drysdale being available for seminars, there is a growing list of world champion caliber Black Belt’s available for seminars at your location.
To become a part of the Robert Drysdale Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Team, you must follow the guidelines and rules set forth in the Robert Drysdale Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Agreement. In addition, you must be willing to promote Brazilian jiu-jitsu in a positive and professional manner.
Individuals that are currently running an existing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu School or are planning to implement a BJJ Program at their martial arts school are eligible.
Your School and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program can be part of the Robert Drysdale Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association based on a variety of different factors. Your exact placement and member status will be based primarily on your overall experience and expertise as a Brazilian jiu-jitsu Teacher, student, and competitor. Your official Brazilian jiu-jitsu belt rank is a very important part of how you and your program is classified in our system and association.
Each Instructor must have attained a rank of Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from Robert Drysdale or an approved Robert Drysdale Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt, and/or a reputable/verifiable Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt.
A Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a very serious accomplishment. In the martial arts world the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt is widely regarded as the most difficult belt to attain. There are only about 2500-3000 Black Belts in the history of the martial art. Attaining rank and getting belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a multi-year process.
*NOTE: If you are not ranked in the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu the first step is attaining rank. We will provide you all of the necessary requirements and skills that are required to become a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Blue Belt. Robert Drysdale will be able to test your knowledge and ability to execute the techniques. If you meet the required standard for promotion, Robert Drysdale will award you the rank of Blue Belt at that time. Once these steps are completed you are a Robert Drysdale Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association Representative.
Important: Gaining belt rank in the Robert Drysdale Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu requires mastery of a broad set of techniques. You can only earn a belt if you are qualified for that belt. You can NOT EARN a belt by simply attending a seminar or watching instructional content. You MUST earn your belts. Our belts are not for sale and they never will be. We take Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu VERY seriously at Robert Drysdale Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. That being said, please DO NOT be intimated or feel unwelcome! This is a call to action for everyone involved in this sport. Respect the REAL black belts in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and learn from them!

* All official and affiliated schools will be listed in the Robert Drysdale Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu online school directory at DrysdaleJiuJitsu.com. In addition, each school will have a profile in their listing that includes each respective academies address, phone number, email address, and a link to their website.
* All Official and Affiliated schools will be listed in the Robert Drysdale Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association school advertisement that will be placed in magazines around the world.

Belt System for Adults and Children in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
* For Adults: White, Blue, Purple, Brown and Black
* For Children (below 16): White, Yellow, Orange and Green
Note: White, blue, purple and brown belts receive 4 stripes, or degrees, before graduation to the next belt rank.
Belt system and its related ages
I . WHITE – Beginner, any age
II. GREY – 04 to 06 years of age
III. YELLOW – 07 to 15 years of age
IV. ORANGE – 10 to 15 years of age
V. GREEN – 13 to 15 years of age
VI. BLUE – 16 years of age or older
VII. PURPLE – 16 years of age or older
VIII. BROWN – 18 years of age or older
IX. BLACK – 19 years of age or older
For adults Belt system and its minimum times:
WHITE TO BLUE – 1 YEAR
BLUE TO PURPLE – 2 YEARS
PURPLE TO BROWN – 1 AND A HALF YEARS
BROWN TO BLACK – 1 YEAR
It is up to each instructor to decide how long it takes for a student to be graded, as long as the minimum times required for each belt are fulfilled. We recognize that earning a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a goal for many people. In many traditional martial arts the road to black belt is much more defined in terms exact times and exact requirements. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has a specific culture, history, and ethos. Earning a “tight” and legitimate belt from a reputable BJJ teacher takes a lot of time and requires a great deal of hard work. The average time at each belt is at least 1.5 years for adults. Depending on attendance and natural ability these times can be longer or shorter. For example, a student with a strong wrestling, judo, or sambo background will more than likely be able to advance quicker due to their pre-existing grappling experience. Ultimately, ALL promotions are at the discretion of your professor.
Minimum ages required for each belt
Belt Test:
* Tests will be conducted by Robert Drysdale or a designated instructor and will follow the stated criteria for the belt ranking as listed in the Official Robert Drysdale Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Belt Syllabus. Belt tests will take place at least once per year during the required seminars hosted by each and every affiliate school.
*Additional belt testing will take place 3 times per year during pre-announced official Belt Tests at the Robert Drysdale Headquarters in Las Vegas, NV.
*Black belts and brown belts can ONLY be awarded directly by Robert Drysdale. Other colored belts (blue and purple) can be awarded by existing association and official Brown and Black Belt instructors on a case by case basis only with direct approval from Robert Drysdale.
General Licensing, Trademark, Logo and Branding Information
General Information: No merchandise, T-shirts, clothing, patches, or any other items can be printed and sold using the likeness of Robert Drysdae or Robert Drysdale Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu without explicit written permission from Robert Drysdale Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. You cannot produce, distribute, or manufacture any products with the Robert Drysdale name or Official logos without written permission from Robert Drysdale Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Uniform with Patch and Logo Requirements
*All instructors and students must have the Association patch on their Kimonos to attend classes, seminars and tournaments.
